Overview
The Mobile VHP Room Sterilizer vaporizes hydrogen peroxide to generate hydroxyl radicals that act on cellular components (including lipids, proteins and DNA); at room temperature, VHP vapor is effective against a broad range of bacteria, fungi and viruses. The unit converts hydrogen peroxide solution into vapor via flash-vaporization and diffuses it through the space with a built-in blower. It is used across pharmaceutical, disease-control, healthcare, animal facility and research applications, and is reported to be effective against a range of common healthcare-associated organisms in published literature on VHP, including MRSA, VRE, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Clostridium botulinum spores, Clostridioides difficile, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, rotavirus and influenza virus — efficacy against any specific organism for a given application should be confirmed through project-specific validation. After the cycle, hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen. The unit is intended to be compatible with the majority of materials, instruments and electronic devices; compatibility should be assessed for the materials used in each application. Fenggu provides on-site commissioning, biological indicator (BI) validation support, maintenance and training. The unit uses a small amount of hydrogen peroxide solution to treat instrument surfaces directly, without a secondary wipe-down step.
Bio-decontamination Process
- Preparation and dehumidification — the unit lowers the space's relative humidity below 50% and holds the temperature above 25°C, creating conditions intended to limit vapor condensation on cleanroom panels, doors and floors
- Conditioning and injection — once temperature and humidity are within range, the unit flash-vaporizes liquid hydrogen peroxide (typically 35% concentration) and injects it into the enclosed space via its built-in blower until the target concentration is reached
- Bio-decontamination and hold — once the target VHP concentration is reached, the unit enters a hold phase, maintaining concentration and temperature/humidity for a set duration while VHP vapor diffuses through the space and acts on exposed surfaces
- Aeration — once the hold phase is complete, VHP injection stops and the aeration mode begins; fresh air is introduced to purge VHP vapor until the concentration in the space falls below 1 ppm, completing the cycle
Key Features
- Siemens PLC and Siemens LCD touchscreen for intuitive operation; supports remote start/stop, scheduled cycles and timed start, with an optional iPad remote-control system
- High dosing capacity, suited to larger-volume bio-decontamination
- Low-temperature process, operates at room temperature
- Short cycle time, low operating cost
- Designed for good compatibility with plastics, rubber and electronics under controlled operating conditions; compatibility should be confirmed for specific materials
- Cycle can be developed and validated to achieve a stated log reduction against Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores, subject to project-specific validation
